Description

Educate your audience about how to react and stay safe when there is an active shooter with our attention grabbing 6 ft roll up banner. The more prepared you are, the quicker you can react under the extreme stress of encountering an active shooter.

The banner begins by advising viewers: Don’t Think – Run. The display lets viewers know that their best defense is to evacuate the area and seek safety by running and hiding. It encourages viewers to call 9-1-1 only after they have reached safety. If the viewer cannot get out of the building, find a room to hide in and lock the door if possible. Turn off the lights, mobile devices, radios, and any other sources of noise. Push heavy objects against the door and remain quiet. Hide behind large items, such as desks or cabinets.

“Stay Calm, Act Quickly – Your Life Could Depend On It!”

Understand how to remain calm and provide accurate information about the shooting incident to 9-1-1 dispatchers. Identify the location of the active shooter and the number of shooters. Get a physical description of shooter or shooters. The number and type of weapons used as well as the number of potential victims observed at the scene of the shooting.

Take action against the shooter only as a last resort when one’s life is in imminent danger. Yell or act as aggressively as possible against the shooter, grab objects that can be hurled at the attacker, and wait for the attacker to pause before counter attacking.

The banner also outlines how to react when law enforcement arrives on the scene of a shooting incident. The first officers who arrive will not stop to help the wounded, and that their primary goal is to stop the shooter. Remain calm and follow officers’ instructions.

There is also information on how to develop an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) in partnership with local law enforcement. Along with implement training at the viewer’s office, school, or facility to prepare for the event of an active shooter emergency.
